Penny Shell, WRC Director

At a special session of the Women’s Resource Center board of advisors on January 22, Penny Shell announced plans to retire this summer. She has been director since August 2002.

A pioneer woman chaplain at Adventist hospitals for 16 years, she first came to La Sierra University in January 2000 as full-time associate director. She has also served as a part-time pastor for visitation at the La Sierra University Church.

“Penny has done an excellent job as WRC director,” LSU President Larry Geraty told the board. “One small example is the material she prepares for our meetings. I attend many board meetings, but these booklets are the most interesting!”

“I have been greatly energized by my involvement with the Women’s Resource Center,” Shell stated. “It is amazing to me to see the impact of a small, donation-based entity. I look forward to the fresh energies and plans that a new director will bring to the center.” She added that “In many places, WRC has put La Sierra University on the map, and I pray the WRC will continue to be a vibrant, pace-setting engine for equality in the church.”
